JAKARTA – As many as 2,225 tree seedlings were planted on the banks of the Ciliwung river around Lenteng Agung, South Jakarta on Thursday (11/14/2019). Thousands of tree seedlings were provided by MNC Peduli working together with the Komunitas Masyarakat Peduli Ciliwung (MAT PECI) commemorating the 30th anniversary of MNC Group and the month of planting trees for Indonesia.

MNC Peduli Chairwoman, Jessica Tanoesoedibjo stated that tree seedlings that have been distributed to surrounding communities are part of MNC Peduli’s campaign to increase awareness of greening in Jakarta and surrounding areas. “We want to continue to increase public awareness of the importance of greening,” Jessica said.

In this activity, children of the surrounding community were also invited in order to raise their awareness of the environment and be active in preserving nature. At the end of the activity, Jessica also visited and supported the activities of the local Nature School program that converted used goods and garbage into handicraft products.

“Here we also provide stationery for children in the area around the Ciliwung River,” she added.

In addition, Jessica also said that this activity was a part of the corporation’s contribution to supporting the DKI Jakarta provincial government program to green up Jakarta. “We are cooperating with the DKI program by planting 10 thousand trees, as a part of our goal, so here we have completed our promise,” she concluded.

Prior to this event, MNC Peduli as a subsidiary of MNC Group has supported the afforestation programs in big cities. One of them was the tree-planting movement which was held at the MNC Fest event on November 3, 2019. MNC Peduli distributed as many as 8,000 tree seedlings to fun walk participants.
